The painting is created by following to the academic principles of structuring the composition, making it clear and understandable. The landscape is constructed on several levels, grouping, and highlighting each element of nature. The foreground consists of a wide plain of snow, followed by a group of snowy trees in the center of the composition. In the background there is an expanded depiction of the sky, which is complemented by the silhouette of the forest in the depth of the painting. Cool bluish, grey, and white tones of colour are used according to the depicted theme. Masterfully represented the winter light, the atmosphere of the air and the light and shades. The painting is made with smoothed and smeared brush strokes, in some place the layer of the paint is applied thicker, thus emphasizing the materiality features of the snow.
