Oil on cardboard, 45,5 x 62,5 cm, 1979 /// Painter Edgars Vinters (1919-2014) was one of the representatives of classical Latvian landscape painting. His creative work is characterized by capturing the local Latvian nature in elegant oil paintings. Stylistically he followed the tradition of Realism and Impressionism. For the particular painting chosen, the motif of a blooming meadow with an emphasis on the use of yellow colour contrasts with the depiction of other elements of nature. The composition is structured with the meadow in the foreground and the central part, on the right edge, rhythmically arranged a row of birches, with the silhouette of farmsteads and forest in the background. The contours of the depicted objects are modelled with free and softened brushstrokes. The surface texture is created unevenly by highlighting the brushstroke pattern and the volume of the paint layer. The artist's signature and dating are on the lower right side of the painting.
