Kurmju Street in Winter

Watercolour on paper, 28x39 cm /// The style of painter Edgars Vinters (1919–2014) is characterised by a blend of realism and impressionism. The artist focused on a winter theme, depicting a view of Kurmju Street. This small street is located in the Purvciems suburb of Riga, where the artist's parents' house stood and where he himself lived throughout his life. The watercolour composition, created in a realistic manner, is retained in a limited range of brown colours, which successfully conveys the atmosphere. The structure of the drawing is clear and balanced. The shapes of the depicted objects are formed with fine, filigree lines. /// The artist's signature and date are on the lower left side of the painting.
