Description

Oil on cardboard, 50x70 cm, 2001 /// Edgars Vinters (1919-2014) is a Latvian landscape and still life painter. His style is characterized by following the tradition of Realism and Impressionism. The painting is rich in colour intensity and brightness. Haystacks are chosen as the central motif. The work of art is characterized not only by the intensive colour, but also by the representation of light, which permeates the painting and indicates the summer season. For the depiction of the landscape has chosen consecutive composition structure and the horizon line was placed directly in the centre of the painting. Both in the representation of the sky and the earth, attention is paid to showing the materiality of the depicted objects, which is achieved with variations of the brushstroke technique. Pastose and vertical strokes dominate the modelling of the meadow and haystacks, but clouds are created with smoother and more blended brushstrokes. The artist’s signature and dating are on the lower right side of the painting.
