Oil on canvas, 90,5 x 100 cm, 2022 /// The artistic style of one of the Latvian painting classics Kārlis Dobrājs (1943), is characterized by the quality of academic drawing, the emphasis placed on form and volume, and the nuanced use of colour. The monumental still-life painting with a decorative vase of flowers and fruits is one of the artist’s latest works, created at the end of 2022. The background is neutral with tonal nuances, thus highlighting the accurate and decorative image of the petals. The work was exhibited for the first time at the painter’s 80th anniversary exhibition in February 2023 at the “Art Platz” gallery in Riga. The artist’s signature and dating are on the lower right.
