The Other Side
Description
2010, lithography, 3/6, 90x66 cm /// Dmitry Lavrentjev (1970) is one of the representatives of Latvian contemporary art with a unique and expressive style. In his works, he draws inspiration from archetypal images and mythology and discusses psychological and philosophical categories. Dmitry Lavrentjev has organized personal exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions since 1995. The artist’s works are in private and public collections in Latvia, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the USA, Poland, Norway, Russia, Belgium, Poland, Denmark, Sweden and New Zealand. The print “The Other Side” is from the artist’s first and most ambitious lithography exhibition, “The Other Side”, in 2010. The artist’s signature and dating are on the lower right.
Coloured lithography is a specific time and work-consuming planographic technique – creating a coloured print; each colour is applied separately, completely processing the lithographic limestone plate all over again. More about the graphic technique in the video from Dmitry Lavrentyev’s exhibition, “The Other Side” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ02mudKHmA.
