Sunflowers

2023, oil on canvas, 74x81 cm /// The artistic style of Latvian painting classic Kārlis Dobrājs (1943) is characterized by the quality of academic drawing, emphasis on the volume of forms and nuanced colouring. The still life painting with the classic motif of sunflowers is filled with light; the yellow shades of the petals intertwine with soft green tones, while the neutral background gives the composition monumentality. The author’s works are in several public collections - Latvian Artists Union Museum (Riga, Latvia), Daugavpils Regional and Art Museum (Daugavpils, Latvia), and the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow, Russia). /// The artist’s signature and date are on the lower right of the painting.
