Spring Field and Cloud
Description
2005, oil on canvas, 40x50,5 cm (with frame 44x54x1 cm) /// Painter Kārlis Siliņš (1958) belongs to the generation of contemporary Latvian artists distinguished by expressiveness, colourfulness, and freedom. Simplified forms and contrasting colour areas characterise his works. In the painting “Spring Field and Cloud”, Siliņš presents a reduced vision of the landscape, emphasising the horizon line that unites the sky and the earth. The green cloud challenges conventional perceptions of natural reality, transforming the landscape into an associative and poetic image. /// The artist’s signature is located on the lower left side of the painting.
