1991, oil on canvas, 80x60 cm (with frame 88x68x2,5 cm) /// Valdis Bušs (1924–2014) was one of the most prominent representatives of Latvian colour painting, whose oeuvre is characterised by vivid use of colour and an expressive sense of form. In the painting “Flowers”, the artist depicts a stylised still-life composition constructed through rhythmically arranged areas of colour and decorative combinations of forms. The work is dominated by contrasting shades of blue, orange, yellow, and green, which lend the composition dynamism and emotional intensity.
